During the attempt to subdue Blue and remove her from the island, she ends up shot, at which point Owen and co. discover that she requires a blood transfusion in order to survive.

The whole set-up of this scene, right down to Blue being muzzled on a table, feels like a direct homage to the dinosaur surgery sequence from The Lost World.

Boy, this movie really is similar to one of the most maligned entries into this franchise, isn't it? Weird.
