3. The Dark Knight Returns

One of the most memorable images from Justice League's marketing saw Bruce Wayne on horseback as he traveled to the remote fishing village where Aquaman has been hiding.

Though this would seem consistent enough with the horse imagery that Zack Snyder also included in Batman v Superman, the reference actually goes deeper than that.

The classic 1986 Frank Miller comic The Dark Knight Returns features numerous memorable panels depicting Batman riding a horse, which this is most definitely a nod to.

Though in the comic Bruce is actually in full Batman regalia while riding the horse, we can all agree that'd look a little too silly for a movie.
