12. Martha Kent

How can you not love Diane Lane and her take on Martha Kent? Her role here is pretty damn inconsequential, but she's still great fun as Superman's dear old mum, and gets one of the film's most hilarious one-liners when she accidentally refers to Lois as "the thirstiest reporter".

Martha gets a few enjoyable scenes opposite Lois and Supes, and though to many fans she's just a tragic reminder of the infamous Martha-centric debacle in Batman v Superman, she nevertheless brings an easy warmth and humanity to the movie.

Everyone needs a mother in their life like Martha, basically.
