Justice League Movie: Why Warner Bros NEED Nolan & Bale To Make It Work

By Mike Reyes /

If you've been following drama that is making the Justice League film in a post Avengers world, you'll know that there's a new rumor floating around. A rumor that is probably the only way to revive this constantly zombified project and actually get it made: Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale are allegedly going to break any promise they've made in the past and come back to the DC Universe. It's not a complete surprise, at least on Nolan's end it isn't, considering his role as Executive Producer on the Man of Steel reboot. What's surprising is that Nolan would be directing the Justice League film and that somehow Christian Bale has been enticed back from the land of David O. Russell pictures to take up the duties as Dark Knight once more...after living happily ever after with Anne Hathaway and giving the job to Joseph Gordon-Levitt. (Honestly, how do you leave Anne Hathaway to come back to a life that could surely rob you of her? Have we learned nothing from The Dark Knight?) Still: Hollywood's going to Hollywood, and as much as this sounds implausible, it might just happen. The Dark Knight Legend was such a hit for Warner Brothers, that they assuredly would pay a king's ransom to bring back the team that made those films such huge hits. For the record, I agree with Shaun Munro's stance that Nolan and Bale really shouldn't be drawn back into the fray. (As if my previous comment about The Dark Knight wasn't enough of an indicator.) However, I like to play devil's advocate, and in this case I truly do believe that whether it's going to happen or not, the Justice League project needs Nolan and Bale in order to ultimately work. There's ten reasons that this project ultimately needs to work with the two leading figures from Gotham at the helm. This might not be the Justice League film we deserve, but it should at least be the Justice League film we need. (As opposed to "The Justice League film which we'll never speak of again".)
