Filming on the much-anticipated follow-up to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is well underway, and the morsels just keep on coming via social media. Today, it's Karen Gillan's turn, as she shares a picture showing that's she back in action on the set as Nebula, the other wayward daughter of Thanos. https://twitter.com/karengillan/status/702627779133743107?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw Gillan's Nebula was one of the more entertaining aspects of Guardians; there's definitely something to be said about the actress' ability to make a bald, blue-skinned, black-eyed alien both sexy and dangerous. There's no confirmation as to what role she'll take on in the sequel, but rumours suggest that she'll be begrudgingly assisting the Guardians this time out, along with Michael Rooker's Yondu. It's a common trope of franchise sequels to have a team-up with a villain in the follow-up - it keeps the dynamic between characters fresh and engaging (also see: X2: X-Men United, Thor: The Dark World). Having Nebula ride with the Guardians will certainly make for some interesting interaction between her and former sister Gamora (Zoe Saldana). It'd actually also be a natural way to bring up Thanos in conversation, and serve to set him up a bit more before his appearance in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War. But time will tell how much James Gunn decides to play that up.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is released on 5 May 2017.
