Kevin Costner has a NEW DAUGHTER
Costner plays a single father whose new farm house seems haunted. He suspects it might have something to do with the ancient burial ground near by!
Mr. Brooks which won the once A-List actor the type of critical acclaim he hadn't received since the last Millennium and actually a nice $20 million worldwide profit that continues his great string of profitable hits. His next movie after his upcoming political comedy Swing Vote will be the horror/thriller The New Daughter over at Gold Circle from rookie Spanish director Luiso Berdejo. Sadly the news from the trades are a little sketchy (they claim it's a thriller) but it does sound like the movie could be Costner's second ever venture into the horror genre...
Costner will play John James, a single father who moves to a farm with his two kids after a painful divorce. Soon, his daughter (Ivana Baquero of "Pan's Labyrinth") starts behaving ominously, and Dad begins to suspect that the burial mound in a nearby field might have something to do with it."Daughter" is adapted by John Travis from a story by John Connolly, published in his 2005 short fiction collection "Nocturnes." Principal photography is set to begin in the first quarter.Five years ago Costner starred in Dragonfly, the low on scares horror movie that followed him as a doctor who begins to get contacted by his recently dead wife through his patients. That movie stumbled to a $52 million taking worldwide but sadly for Universal, it cost them $8 million more to finance. That movie was actually the last Costner flick which hasn't made a profit, though like Michael Keaton a few years back in 2005 with White Noise, I think audiences would be attracted to seeing him in this genre given the right plot. Though even if the film looks bad, if they keep the budget low... it should do O.K.
