Kill Bill 3: Tarantino Teasing Another Sequel He'll Never Make
Exciting, but don't hold your breath.
ObsessedWithFilm brought you the story that Quentin Tarantino was weighing up the idea of making Kill Bill 3 and 4. The news back then was that the plots would revolve around the vengeance of a couple of mutilated Crazy 88 members and then the daughters of Vernita Green. Ultimately, nothing came of that - just as it seems to happen every time Tarantino talks about doing a sequel or prequel or spin-off - but now the director has been talking in the run up to the release of The Hateful Eight and teasing that he might not be done with the Bride yet. He teased some potential plans for Kill Bill 3 to What the Flick?!: Would you like to see Kill Bill Vol 3? Share your reactions below in the comments thread.
Way way way back in 2007, a little site called "There is definitely a possibility, stopped short of it being a probability. For one reason in particular: Uma and me would have a really good time working together again."Even back in 2007, it felt more likely that it would be the planned Vol 4 (the revenge of Vernita Green's daughter) that would make it to the screen. Kill Bill after all drew a lot from the Lady Snowblood films, and they headed in that direction. So it's not all that surprising that the idea went a bit dry as they waited for a passage of time. Tarantino even acknowledges that that was a creative decision:
"I put character through a lot and I wanted her to have this much time for peace. I wanted her to have some time with her daughter... She could actually enjoy her life for a while."And his passion when talking about the project remains a big indication that the film might yet happen.
"Kill Bill is, pretty much hands down, my most visionary movie, in so far as I really went beyond Pulp Fiction to create this world that really doesn't exist, where they have Samurai sword holders on aeroplanes instead of cup holders and that's all good."In 2014, the director claimed he would retire after his tenth film, meaning he's only got a couple left (he seems to count Kill Bill 1 and 2 as a single project). It wouldn't be all that surprising if he went with a trilogy ender for the Beatrix Kiddo as number 10, but it's hard to ignore the precedent he's set himself of not actually delivering on the exciting projects he mentions publicly.
