As per The Illuminerdi, franchise favourite character Knuckles will be appearing alongside Sonic and Tails in 2022's sequel to this year's Sonic the Hedgehog.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is well into pre-production, with several exciting new characters set to be a part of this follow-up - including Knuckles!

The first movie made $306.8 million at the box office and received a hugely positive response from fans and critics alike, so a sequel was always on the cards. Jeff Fowler is set to direct Sonic 2, with Ben Schwartz returning to voice the titular blue speedster. At this stage, there's no official word on Jim Carrey returning as Dr. Robotnik, although that return is expected to happen.

For those who stuck around to the closing credits of Sonic the Hedgehog, you'll have been delighted to see the inclusion of long-time Sonic pal, Tails. Now, it appears that he won't be the only Sonic legacy character to be a part of the sequel picture. Unlike Tails' role in this year's movie, though, the current belief is that Knuckles - like Tails - will have a major role to play in Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

By all accounts, the movie incarnation of Knuckles will be a gullible character who will stay true to his video game depiction, being able to glide and climb walls - two of the main characteristics that have become synonymous with the video game iteration of Knuckles.
