Though every Samuel L Jackson performance feels like a unique revelation in its own right, his character also shares something with the villain of the almost unwatchable King Kong Lives, which came out in 1986.

Both men are brought in to track and hunt Kong (in the earlier case, his monkey wife too), and both are as unhinged as they are committed to their military duty. And both end up dying in exactly the same way, squashed like a pancake after daring to take Kong on alone.
