The Last Of Us Movie: 10 Actresses Who Could Play Ellie

By Leo Troy /

2. Izabela Vidovic

Moments after first appearing on screen in last years meathead action flick 'Homefront', the seemingly harmless Izabela Vidovic delivers a devastating knee to the pug nose of an irritating overweight bully, promptly displaying a large chunk of the reserved badassery needed to inhabit the character of Ellie. In fact, Vidovic in 'Homefront' seems a bit like a slightly younger Ellie, as if she was brought up in a world with some structure, as opposed to one in ruins. Her father/daughter on-screen chemistry with Jason Statham is proof she could work competently with a middle€“aged mercenary father figure such as Joel. The sentimental dialogue between the two - although one-dimensional as a product of Sylvester Stallone's cheesy script €“ sometimes provides a similar dynamic as in the limelight of The Last Of Us. Furthermore, 'Homefront' proved Vidovic's aesthetic believability as an ordinary girl. She looks at home in a simple t-shirt and jeans, independent from the glitter and polish of Hollywood; a quality which is intrinsic to the empathetic nature of Ellie's persona. Working to Vidovic's advantage is her casting in the pilot of the TV adaptation of Zombieland, which €“ despite not being picked up for a full series €“ gave her some experience in a place overrun by brainless mutants. Plus, by the looks of things, she can ride a horse, which €“ as anyone who's played the game will know €“ is integral to quite a few plot points. Should Vidovic be casted, her shining moments would arrive in instances of impending danger. In peril, when a regular 14 year old might burst into tears, Ellie tends to stand her ground. There's no doubt, in these performances, that Vidovic would demonstrate her strengths best.
