One word: Prisoners. Anyone who has seen that film knows that Hugh Jackman would be absolutely phenomenal as Joel. He was intense, he was brutal, he was a man pushed to edge, and honestly, he scared the hell out of every audience that came across him. You think Wolverine has a temper? It was child's play compared to this. It remains one of Jackman's best roles and the fact that he was not nominated for any major awards was shameful. We are always used to seeing him as the good guy or a hero and he was definitely not in Prisoners, making him perfect for Joel. Jackman proved to the world that given the right material he can play a character unlike anything we've seen from him before. There is no question that the role of Joel would bring out such a ruthless, barbaric side of Jackman that even Wolverine would turn-tail and walk away.
