By Simon Gallagher /

21. The Pulp Fiction Gag

Miramax

At the same time as Batman throwing some shade at Suicide Squad when Commissioner Gordon suggests getting a team of villains together to stop the Joker and the Phantom Zone villains, Batman specifically mentions Fox Force Five, the team of bad-ass girls from the pilot Mia Wallace shot in Pulp Fiction.

20. The Gremlins Cartoon Reference

Warner Bros.

At one point during the climactic battle sequence, The Gremlins attack the Bat-Plane, taking out the engines, which is a two-fold Easter Egg of sorts.

First it refers to the origins of the term when 1920s RAF pilots introduced a superstition that "gremlins" were sabotaging doomed planes - an idea that became more popular during World War II.

And of course it also references the famous Bugs Bunny cartoon Falling Hare in which he battles a mischievous gremlin as it terrorises him at an airfield and in a plane.

19. Batman's Eyes

Warner Bros.

It's a fairly small thing, comparatively speaking, but the decision to give Batman blue glowing eyes refers back to his battle armor in Batman v Superman.
