In Hollywood, it's often not what you know but who you are sleeping with it. Deadline are reporting that director Len Wiseman has offered his wife and Underworld actress Kate Beckinsale the memorable Sharon Stone role in his remake of Total Recall at Sony. Lori is the wife of lead Douglas Quaid, to be played by Colin Farrell in the remake (was portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Paul Verhoeven's 1990 original) and isn't exactly what she seems at first glance. Last week we reported that Jessica Biel had landed the part but it seems that she she was up for the other love interest role, that of Melina, though it's suggested she's no longer in contention and Eva Mendes and Rosario Dawson are now fighting to win the part. Total Recall centers on a factory worker who begins to think he might be a spy but is confused where his allegiance lies. Is it with Euromerica or New Shanghai, the two superpower countries in this futuristic world? Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston signed up to play the villain a while ago, that of Vilos Cohaagen, the leader of Euromerica who plans a war against New Shanghai. Kurt Wimmer (Salt) has adapted Phillip K. Dick's novel We Remember It For You Wholesale (the basis of the 90's film) and it will be produced by Neil H. Mortizs production shingle Original Films (of course, despite they mostly seem to produce remakes & sequels). Kate Beckinsale is currently shooting Underworld 4: New Dawn and her deal is subject to scheduling. Total Recall is due to shoot this summer and land August 3rd, 2012.
