3. "This Was A Perfect Night..."
Not every wound in the film is necessarily a bloody slash, and not every brutal moment requires Logan's blades to crunch through a henchman's heart or head. In fact, some of the most perfectly executed moments are tied to the exceptional writing and characterisation that comes alongside the R-Rated blood, guts and glory.
As a case in point: when the night with the Munsons ends with Charles in bed, sadly admitting he does remember accidentally killing all of his students, it is a touching moment that changes everything for him. He's not just tankerous or a victim of his degenerating brain, he's also haunted by ghosts he made himself. Ghosts of those he loved most fiercely. That would probably have been enough.
But then, just to clash the R-Rated material and the subtle, emotional moments together for a moment, it's revealed he's not actually confessing to Logan as he thought. He's just told all to X-24, who rewards his assertion that it had been a perfect night by slowly piercing his heart fatally with his claws, as the audience helplessly looks on.
If you didn't almost lose your sh*t at this moment, you have a heart of stone, whether you're man, woman, wolverine or child.
