Conflicts on NBC's Hannibal series rules him out of playing the villain in Thor 2.

If anyone was speculating who or what Mads Mikkelsen might have been playing in 'Thor 2', well, you can stop right now with news coming that Mikkelsen has been forced to depart the Marvel sequel due those pesky scheduling conflicts with NBC's 'Hannibal'. Mikkelsen was supposed to be playing the villain in the Marvel sequel but now it looks as if that is not going to happen as the actor told Zoomin Movies:
"Yeah, that's not happening now unfortunately. I had a meeting with them, but they were a little too late. And then 'Hannibal' came in, and everything just came in the same period, so now it's not happening".
Mikkelsen's departure marks the second casualty of a high profile Marvel flick with news coming earlier this week that director David Slade was forced to drop out of the long gestating 'Daredevil' reboot due to his directing duties on the NBC show. NBC has ordered thirteen episodes of the show which follows the early exploits of everybody's favorite cannibal as Hannibal Lecter (Mikkelsen), prior to his incarceration and working as a psychiatrist, helps solve crimes alongside FBI agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy), while conveniently hiding his own particular tastes for human liver, fave beans and a nice chianti. This should come as no surprise really, as Mikkelsen's casting as Hannibal came shortly after the announcement of his involvement in 'Thor 2'. No word yet on who might be replacing Mikkelsen in Thor 2, let alone who he would've been playing (though we have our suspicions... , so we still got loads of time speculate as with all good superhero movies these days. Mikkelsen will begin indulging us in the finer tastes of the human flesh, once he finishes work on Asger Leth's road movie 'Move On'.
