Make Sure You Catch Andrew Niccol's IN TIME Trailer!
You know, Warner Bros have been obsessed for years with remaking Logan's Run but here we are... here is a movie that damn well modernizes the concept and has some new and exciting ideas to boot.
Andrew Gattaca is king of the concept men, is he not? Just think about the work he has his name to. His ideas and screenplays for Gatacca and The Truman Show stand very high on my list of the best films from the 90s. 20th Century Fox will release his sci-fi/action film In Time (formerly titled Now and weirdly I'm.mortal or something daft like that) in the U.S. on Friday and man does it look like a home run. You know, Warner Bros have been obsessed for years with remaking Logan's Run but here we are... here is a movie that damn well modernizes the concept and has some new and exciting ideas to boot. And to prove that Niccol has lost known of his succinct touch, just look at the clever way he manages to express how the concept of this film will work (4 minutes of your life for a cup of coffee... what a nice idea). In Time is set in a universe where time is described as currency as your aging clock stops at 25. In this world the rich are immortal, and the poor struggle to live. Justin Timberlake (Ok, he feels a bit off in the trailer... but he ruled in The Social Network didn't he, so let's give him a shot) plays a rebel from the ghetto who is wrongly accused of killing a wealthy man to steal his time, forcing him to go on the run with his beautiful hostage (Amanda Seyfried) from the ruthless law enforcement officer named The Timekeeper (Cillian Murphy) chasing him, and his right-hand man (Collins Pennie). Here's the trailer to remind you of how awesome this movie looks...Only thing that I think I might dislike is the choice of music and how many times Timberlake is going to look at his digital clock. Can't wait to see more of Cillian Murphy... he's gonna steal the show in this one. Timberlake spoke of the film at Comic Con;
The idea of how could we achieve being young forever... I just fell in love with the man that he was. An ordinary man being put in fantastical situations. He wakes up with 24 hours on his body clock, so he only has a day to live. the idea of what would you do, how would you live; the idea of having to beg and steal to stay alive. Having the director of Gattaca at the helm didnt hurt either. As a director has the ability to create a thrill ride in the midst of all these ideas. I havent done a film like this, so I was excited to jump into those running shoes. I run a lot. While it is thrilling, I feel like it is performance driven. A movie like this is intense and thrilling but it says a lot.
In Time is due October 28th in the U.S. but not until November 1st in the U.K.
