4. Joseph Bishara's Superb Musical Score

Warner Bros.

Complimenting the enticing visuals is a frankly majestic musical score from Joseph Bishara, who has scored many of Wan's previous films and also appeared in the Insidious series as the Lipstick-Face Demon, believe it or not.

Bishara's score is laudably diverse, at times amping-up the orchestral swell for the campier horror-show set-pieces, but also including a strong electronic foundation, as on occasion feels like a nod to the giallo genre.

The score works in perfect tandem with the atmospheric sound design and sharp visuals to ensure that, even when Malignant threatens to almost completely fall apart, it's still an appealing sensory experience.
