One of the more obvious Easter Eggs in Man Of Steel, appearing several times in some form, is a reference to Supes best known villain, Lex Luthor. Although the bald headed nemesis is absent from the film (making this the third film hes sat out, after Superman III and the forgotten Superman And The Mole-Men), hes still an underlying presence in the form of LexCorp. Existing in the comics since Luthor made the jump from mad scientist to businessman, these references are likely the biggest clues to where the franchise is heading. With the logo appearing multiple times - either on a building in the Metropolis skyline or on trucks throughout the film, including one Clark hitches a lift on and, most prominently, on fuel tanker Zod throws at Kal-El - this Easter Egg is a little less hidden and a lot more pointed. Thanks to the other films, Lex is known to general audiences and the more eagle eyed in the audience cant have failed to miss it, making this reference a promise to everyone that, now the origins out the way, theyre going to pull a Dark Knight and take on the biggest character of all. Lex Luthor has been played brilliantly by Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey already, begging the question who, in this stylised world, could take up the mantle?
