Man Of Steel 2 On "Permanent Hold"
Superman sequel isn't a priority at Warner Bros.
Last week, The Death of Superman Lives director John Schnepp suggested George Miller was attached to direct Man of Steel 2. Further sources have since confirmed that Miller is in talks with DC over a prospective project, but it's looking increasingly like it might not be a Superman sequel. Apparently Warner has Man of Steel 2 on "permanent hold", which means it's not a project they're actively looking to produce in the immediate future. Man of Steel 2 doesn't exist on Warner's current slate of DC releases, which carries all the way to 2020 with their reboot of Green Lantern. As a result, we maybe shouldn't be super surprised to hear that Man of Steel 2 isn't a priority. The 2013 original collected a sturdy $668 million worldwide, although the film proved divisive, and it's been speculated Warner were actually hoping for a bigger return. As a result, they may feel Superman functions better as a component in a wider world, rather than the focus of individual stories.
