Marvel Cinematic Universe: 11 Films To Expect In Phase 4

11. Black Widow

Black Widow's own standalone film has been a long time coming, especially for fans of the character who have wanted to see her branch out beyond being an Avenger and a supporting player in other heroes' films. Even those involved in the MCU, like Kevin Feige and Scarlett Johansson herself, have been talking it up as a possibility for years.

Armed with a script written by Jac Schaeffer and rewritten by Ned Benson and directed by acclaimed Australian director Cate Shortland, Black Widow's been stacking up its cast over the last few months as it heads towards production, with familiar faces like Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz all signing on to join Johansson in her big solo outing.

Unsurprisingly, the specifics of the film are being kept close to Marvel's chest, but the character's history is such a broad canvas upon which any story could be painted. Aspects about her past that we've been teased with, such as the Red Room, and characters like Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and even the Winter Soldier could all play a part in her story depending on what the film chooses to explore about her history.

But no matter what happens, it'll be a welcome chance for fans to finally get to know Natasha Romanoff a little better following her Endgame sacrifice while kicking off Phase 4 next year.
