10. Abraham Erskine

Died In: Captain America: The First Avenger

After his serum proved to be a success on Steve Rogers, Erskine was shot and killed by HYDRA agent Heinz Kruger before he could see Rogers go on to become Captain America. 

As played by the likable Stanley Tucci, Erskine helped to remind Rogers of the good man he would always be even without the effects of the serum, with his death giving the first Avenger the first of many reasons to well and truly hate HYDRA.
