Marvel Cinematic Universe: Predicting The Next Decade Of Movies

5. The Avengers 2

This is what everything has been shifting towards since last May, the end-game of Phase Two, the film that everyone is wondering how it can possibly top Joss Whedon's towering cinematic achievement. He's certainly got his work cut out for him, but given how this universe only seems to be expanding, it has some very exciting, ambitious prospects indeed. Wasn't Hawkeye just the most boring part of The Avengers? Jeremy Renner's whining about his reduced screen time probably won't do him wonders with Marvel, so expect his role to be toned down even more, if not elided entirely in favour of some of the other lesser-known (but far more interesting) characters, such as Falcon. Thor is "killed" by Thanos during the final fight, though of course, being an Asgardian, he's not dead forever, and a mid-credits tease will suggest that he'll be back for Thor 3. Thanos is defeated but not killed, at grand cost to Earth (not just Thor's life). In line with recent rumours, The Illuminati will banish Hulk to outer space after his destructive power gets out of control. In a post-credits scene, he wakes up on an alien planet, surrounded. In a third post-credits scene (or maybe this will just be the last scene), Ultron's presence will be teased, announcing him as the Phase Three villain.
