Marvel Confirm They've Held Talks With Keanu Reeves For MCU Role
Will the Reevesaissance continue with Disney's mammoth franchise?
Keanu Reeves is experiencing a resurgence like no other. Between the success of the John Wick series and the cult success of the actor's nineties roles, Reeves has deservedly become a beloved internet darling and can seemingly do no wrong.
Naturally, the outpouring of affection for Reeves has drew many to conclude that he'd be perfect for a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Numerous fan-castings have been optioned (although clearly Silver Surfer is his true calling), and it seems as though Marvel are equally as keen on the actor.
Speaking to Comic Book in the build up to Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige was asked about the possibility of Reeves joining the MCU, and revealed that Marvel have actually been in contact with the actor at various points over the last few years.
"We talk to him for almost every film we make... We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it."
The report also mentions how Feige compared the situation with Reeves to the one the studio had with Jake Gyllenhaal before Spider-Man: Far From Home, with the studio having contacted the actor "multiple times" before he finally settled on Mysterio in the upcoming Spidey sequel.
Either way, news of Marvel having officially contacted Reeves about an MCU role is sure to get fans excited. Here's hoping they land on the right role for him in Phase Four.
