Marvel Fans Want Donnie Yen To Play Namor
Here's what he'd look like...
In light of the recent rumours that Namor The Sub-Mariner may finally be coming to the MCU (in some form), it's inevitable that fans have taken to fan-casting their ideal candidates for the role.
Even if the mooted film remains in limbo - no doubt because of the finer details of the continued rights issues that nobody seems to know the end of - there are some pretty great ideas for how Marvel could make their answer to Aquaman. And it starts with a fan petition calling for the mighty Donnie Yen to be cast in the lead.
Yen was an emotionally devastating revelation in Star Wars: Rogue One, and he has the insane martial arts skills to answer the call. Plus, he'd be a real strike against Hollywood's problematic Asian casting issues that see way too many roles white-washed or passed over for Asian actors.
Just imagine Ip Man in the MCU - that's bloody exciting, and Yen himself seems intrigued by the prospect...
