The Wachowski brothers who wrote and directed The Matrix Trilogy have finally annouced what their next project will be. They are set to helm a cinematic live action version of Speed Racer, a 60's anime television series that was later adapted into an English language version for American audiences. The movie will see them re-team with many of the talent that worked on The Matrix, such as John Gaeta who won an Oscar for his visual effects work on the first film of the trilogy. Speed Racer is set to be released in the summer of 2008. Nice to see the Wachowski brothers working on a big screen project again, although they did write and produce V for Vendetta. The Matrix trilogy was an outstanding achievement in the history of cinema and although the sequels waned in quality somewhat, you can't deny the impact the first movie had on audiences. Interesting choice of project but one to keep an eye on for sure. source - the hollywood reporter, coming soon
