Matt Reeves says CLOVERFIELD 2 is still a 'priority'

I gotta' say, I enjoyed the hell outta' Cloverfield. The J.J. Abrams - Matt Reeves collaboration was pure fun and had everything from thrills, spills, suspense, horror, intense moments...you get the picture. So, needless to say, I'm pretty keen on finding out what happens next to the monster responsible for the complete annihilation of New York city. Are there more monsters out there? Is it a government secret? Will more people need to carry paperbags into cinemas in case they throw-up due to the shakiness of the (in)famous shaky-cam technique? Speaking to MTV recently, filmmaker Matt Reeves revealed that he's very much interested in creating a second episode in the Cloverfield series.
€œIt really isn€™t the moment for [the sequel[ to go any further than it has, but it continues to be a priority for both of us,
The filmmaker also mentioned that Abrams is deep into pre-production on Super 8 - his low-budget collaboration with Steven Spielberg, while he himself is finishing-up on his horror remake, Let Me In that's due in October. As for the story, what do you expect from the duo that managed to keep the entire plot for Cloverfield in lockdown secrecy right up to its release date? Reeves dropped no hints whatsoever, but reiterated that Super 8 has got nothing to do with Cloverfield in any shape or form. From a box-office perspective, Cloverfield was very profitable. The movie grossed $170million worldwide on a $25million budget. Talk about making bank! Apart from the actual movie itself, though, Cloverfield is also remembered for its elaborate viral marketing campaign and pseudo-documentary teasers and trailers, which drew people to see the movie for the suspense factor alone. I'm almost certain a similar approach will be taken for the sequel as well.
