Matthew Modine & Tom Conti Join THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

By Matt Holmes /

Updated:Two more character actors have joined the cast - Brett Cullen (he played Goodwin Stanhope on Lost) will play a priest and Chris Ellis (dozens of t.v. & film roles) as a judge. Brett Cullen and Chris Ellis now round out the cast for currently shooting blockbuster sequel. Both are longtime character actors, with Cullen known to €œLost€-heads as Goodwin Stanhope and more recently to others as Mark on €œMake It Or Break It€ (admit it, you watch the show). As for Ellis you€™ve probably seen him a dozen times or more on the big and small screen but didn€™t realize it. Dude works non-stop, but we€™ll remember him as the scuzzy J.T. in €œMy Cousin Vinny€ (the dude Vinny has to fight for money). Cullen will put on robes as a judge in the movie, while Ellis will don a cassock as a priest. Small casting updates on The Dark Knight Rises came in over the weekend and as Chris Nolan has a penchant for doing he's bringing in some forgotten faces he remembers from 80's cinema into his movies. Variety got the scoop earlier that Matthew Modine (probably best known for his role as Private Joker in Full Metal Jacket nearly a quarter of a century ago) and Scottish thesp Tom Conti (who Nolan probably remembers from Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence which he co-starred with David Bowie in 1983) are on board. Modine will play a character named Nixon but we don't know a great deal about who Conti will play. Child actor Joey King is also cast. Meanwhile The Daily Record say Nolan is bringing filming on The Dark Knight Rises to Glasgow next month once shooting in London is complete. And let's not forget we got our first official look at Bane on Friday, the first real marketing on next summer's blockbuster.
