PICK OF THE WEEK THE 7th VOYAGE OF SINBAD - The first Ray Harryhausen attempt at creating the monsters from Greek Mythology and his first of three SINBAD movies, this being my favourite. One of the most entertaining adventures films of all time, a thrilling ride with some breathtaking scenes including a skeleton swordfight (which pre-dates JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS) and a battle between a fire breathing dragon and the memorable cyclops. It's a cut price HD transfer, no other new title will give you the same value for your buck!

AFTER THE JUMP... HALLOWEEN TITLES ON BLU-RAY, HITCHCOCK LEGACY DVDS, JACK BROOKS, MELVILLE CRITERIONS, FIRST DISNEY ANIMATED BLU-RAY AND MORE!!!

GETTING READY FOR HALLOWEEN in Blu-Ray! YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN - Mel Brooks' fabulous spoof/homage to FRANKENSTEIN, shot in glorious Universal 30's style black and white. Gene Wilder stars as Dr. Frankenstein. THE AMITYVILLE HORROR - The original, of course! One of the creepiest haunted house movies ever made CARRIE - I've always thought of this movie as the female version of AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, a movie about the problems and tribulations of a girl's journey's into women. When Brian De Palma use to be exciting. THE OMEN COLLECTION - All four movies, including the original 1976 spectacular and the horrid 2006 remake. INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE - Better concept than execution, though this is still a very good film... just not quite the great post-modern vampire movie it could have been. Loved Tom Cruises' performance here, one of his better outings for sure just I always think the film goes a little flat at the 3rd act. Still wondrous film, with a haunting theme and atmosphere which matches the mood of Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley's writings. THE OMEN COLLECTION - All four movies, including the original 1976 spectacular and the horrid 2006 remake. BEETLEJUICE - What a great artist can do with so few resources. So much fun. They rarely make comedies as smart as this anymore. THE HAPPENING - Hate this movie, M. Night Shyamalan has become such a parody of himself. ORIGINAL FACES OF DEATH - Even more disturbing than HOSTEL and SAW, if you ever thought that was possible. BEST OF THE REST SLEEPING BEAUTY (Blu-Ray) - The first Disney animated movie in Blu-Ray! BODY HEAT (Blu-Ray) - Never seen it but man, it's an original film noir written and directed by the guy who wrote THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. This was his directorial debut, starring William Hurt and Kathleen Turner and I'm desperate to give it a go! JACK BROOKS MONSTER SLAYER - Although a little straight-faced and derivative of 80s horror classics, Jack Brooks is none-the-less an enjoyable film debut from director Knautz. After all, it€™s about fighting monsters. What more do you need? - From Tom Fallows' original review, read Ray's telephone conversation with Trevor Matthews. THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY - Never seen this classic film but the Oscar Wilde story is one of my Gothic favourites tales. Angela Langsbury, better known for BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS and her t.v. role MURDER SHE WROTE, won a supporting Oscar nom for this movie and lends her voice to the audio commentary here. CRITERIONS Two marvelous Jean-Pierre Melville directed and Lino Ventura starring movies this week, LES DOULOS&LE DEUXIME SOUFFLE, two of the very best in the French crime genre and are packed full of extra's, with the usual DVD mastery from Criterion. New video features and audio commentaries from film scholars.. what more could you ask for? WHERE IS THE BLU-RAY, DAMNIT?! New Universal Legacy transfers of Hitchcock's three classics REAR WINDOW, VERTIGO and PSYCHO. Although I absolutely love all three films, where the hell is the Blu-Ray transfer? Only a few extra's, so not really worth upgrading but of course if you don't have these titles already, then they are a must buy... unless you can wait for Blu-Ray. TOUCH OF EVIL, one of the greatest films ever made. But again, no need to upgrade if you already own it. BEST OF T.V. SOUTH PARK: THE BEST OF CARTMAN: Awesome set, features the 12 best Cartman centered episodes. THE SIMPSONS: COMPLETE 11TH SEASON - Episodes better than anything being made right now! SPEED RACER - THE COMPLETE CLASSIC SERIES: COLLECTOR'S EDITION - Looking like the packaging of the STAR TREK Original DVDs, this will be a must buy for those fans of the popular Japanese anime series, especially those drowning in their sorrows over how bad the Wachowski Brothers movie was. BIG TITLES NEWLY AVAILABLE IMPORTANT BLU-RAY PRE-ORDERS INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL - Oct. 14thMATRIX: ULTIMATE COLLECTION - Oct. 14thBAND OF BROTHERS - Nov. 11th HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY - Nov. 11thWALL-E - Nov. 18thFIRST CRITERION BLU-RAY TITLES....
