MCU: 10 Best Characters Introduced In Phase 4 (So Far)

5. Kate Bishop

Hawkeye was one of Phase 4’s most delightful surprises due to its near-perfect blend of thrills, humour and heart. It fleshed out Jeremy Renner’s bow-and arrow-wielding Avenger in ways his previous appearances did not, and gave the actor a chance to really dig into his dramatic chops.

That said, he was almost outshone by another bow-and-arrow-wielding hero. Upon her introduction, Kate Bishop quickly became one of the MCU’s most beloved characters. This was somewhat expected given that the talented Hailee Steinfeld would be taking on the role, but her effortless and charming chemistry with Renner still made for a delightful surprise.

We are immediately shown her backstory and motivations in the first episode’s prologue, and her admiration of Hawkeye from an early age is believable. This admiration turns her into a capable fighter who still has room to be a plucky (and delightfully annoying) young adult.

Her interactions with Clint, her mother and a returning Yelena Belova show various sides of her personality, and they all come together to make her a more than worthy successor to the mantle of Hawkeye.
