MCU: 10 Marvel Characters Who Could ACTUALLY Replace Spider-Man

The web slinger is swinging out of the MCU, but which young stars could take his place?

For a long time, Spider-Man looked set to become ‘the new Iron Man’ in the MCU, stepping into Tony Stark’s shoes. Losing ‘the kid’ was enough to make Iron Man give his own life to defeat Thanos, only for Sony and Disney to end up failing to keep Spidey in the MCU anyway.

As for who’s to blame and why, let’s leave that aside for now. Instead, looking forward, someone is going to have to replace Spidey. He’s one of if not the biggest superheroes on the planet, so as for who can replace him as a billion dollar draw, there’s slim pickings. He’s close to irreplaceable.

However, as a young hero still learning his craft, Marvel has a lot of heroes who could step up to the plate. In fact, even if Sony and Disney somehow manage to keep Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in the MCU, he’ll start becoming more mature and will leave a void for a new youngster.

Regardless of what happens to Spider-Man, the MCU seems like it’s going to be around for a long time. Having just lost Iron Man, Black Widow (upcoming solo movie not withstanding) and Captain America, they’ll need to introduce fresh blood.

10. Kate Bishop

This list will be focussing in characters not yet in the MCU, although with Kate Bishop that qualification is being cut awfully fine. Bishop will debut in Disney+ show Hawkeye, which will likely provide her a pathway into the MCU proper.

Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton is expected to step aside after the show, making it possible for Kate Bishop to fully take his place. The character has only been around since 2005, but has already led the Young Avengers and West Coast Avengers in that time. She’d be replacing Spidey as the youngster, but she’s a helluva lot more mature than Peter.

Tony Stark and Peter’s dynamic was incredible, but Jeremy Renner is a magnificent character actor too, delivering his best MCU performance to date in Avengers: Endgame. Kate Bishop is yet to be cast, but whoever it is, she and Renner could combine for a twofer to fill the void left by Tony and Peter.

Personality wise, she’s totally different, and will likely get into scrapes nothing like what Spidey experienced. As a rising young star for the MCU though, Kate Bishop might just be the perfect replacement.
