MCU: 30 Actors Who Could Have Starred In Avengers: Infinity War

Before Samuel L. Jackson took the role of Nick Fury and made it so brilliantly his own, Marvel Studios was in talks with another A-list actor: George freaking Clooney.

Clooney apparently bailed from talks when he saw an issue of the Nick Fury MAX comic book, in which Fury strangles a man to death with his own intestines, and decided the role wasn't a good fit for him. Oof.

Would It Have Worked?: Clooney could've been great, tough though it is to imagine him wearing the eye patch. However, Jackson is so note-perfect for the part - which was even reimagined in his image in the comics years before he signed on - that there's no point even trying to consider anyone else.
