MCU: 30 Actors Who Could Have Starred In Avengers: Infinity War
23. Edward Norton (The Hulk)
Edward Norton of course played Bruce Banner in 2008's The Incredible Hulk movie, and though he received solid acclaim for his portrayal, his dictatorial behaviour on-set caused him to be replaced by Mark Ruffalo before 2012's The Avengers started shooting.
Would It Have Worked?: In terms of pure acting ability, it would've been great to see Norton carrying the role all the way to Infinity War, but given his clear control issues, it's hard to imagine him flourishing in the tightly controlled environment of such a huge ensemble blockbuster.
Norton's insanely talented, but like Phoenix, his philosophies as an artist just don't lend themselves well to tentpole filmmaking, hence why he hasn't had a major role in a blockbuster film since.
Ruffalo has meanwhile done a tremendous job making the part his own, so it's all good.
