MCU: 8 Villains Who Could Be The Next Big Bad
4. The Hulk
Recently Kevin Feige and Mark Ruffalo have hinted at a new story arc for The Hulk through Thor: Ragnarok, Infinity War and Avengers 4. While these movies were mentioned specifically, that is not to say the story ends there.
With the Planet Hulk storyline being adapted in Ragnarok, it would be possible to follow that with World War Hulk. This would see The Jade Giant turn heel while on Sakaar, returning to Earth with a vengeance against our heroes.
We have already seen The Hulk fighting against Thor and Iron Man, so it wouldn't be hard to imagine the fight going even further. This would not only be one the physically toughest fights for The Avengers, but also one of the most emotional, knowing that their friend is stuck within the enemy somewhere.
This would certainly require some creative changes for the MCU, but this is nothing new for Marvel. In the comics, The Hulk is sent into space against his will by The Illuminati, with his space ship rigged to explode. This results in the death of the family Hulk has built on Sakaar, sending him back to Earth in an uncontrollable rage like never before.
Though Hulk went into space of his own accord, there may be another reason for his rampage against his friends. In Age of Ultron he was sent into a blind rage by Scarlet Witch, it could be that Hela has a similar effect on him.
