MCU Phase 4: 9 Reasons To Be Excited About Black Widow
What exactly happened to Natasha in the Red Room?
As the only female member of the original six Avengers, it’s a shame it’s taken this long for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow to get a film of her own. Her first appearance was in Iron Man 2 and she’s since continued to play a major role working alongside the Avengers in the MCU.
Despite appearing in six films (so far), Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff still remains quite a mystery. We only know parts of her past and her character isn’t explored that much in the present either, especially due to the Avengers focusing on stopping major threats from wiping out the Earth.
Considering Black Widow would reveal more about her character, the long-awaited announcement has failed to inspire much excitement amongst fans. But even if you’re not massively interested in her character, you should definitely give the Black Widow solo film a chance.
9. It Will Be Marvel’s Second Female-Led Solo Superhero Film
After twenty films in the MCU, we finally got a female-led superhero film this year with Captain Marvel. Whilst women can relate to male characters, it’s still very empowering for them to see a female superhero kick ass.
After Captain Marvel’s success, fans are definitely more excited than ever to see another female superhero take centre-stage in their own film. Black Widow’s origin story is long overdue, especially as it seems like her character hasn’t had that much to do yet.
A film centred solely on her is going to be a fantastic insight into her character. Most of the other Avengers have their own film, so why not Black Widow?
