MCU Spider-Man 4: 8 Past Clues To What Could Happen Next

8. That Mid-Credits Symbiote Tease Is Probably Going To Lead To A Venom-Infected Peter

By far the clearest setup for future Spider-Man movies is the mid-credits scene in No Way Home, in which Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock gets transported back to his own universe, while inadvertently leaving behind a small piece of the Venom symbiote.

This, of course, leaves the door wide open for a storyline in which that symbiote sliver infects Peter Parker. That might not happen in Spider-Man 4, or even Spider-Man 5 - but the opportunity is now there, and Sony/Marvel Studios can exploit it as and when they see fit.

Interestingly, a Venom/Spidey crossover has actually been in the works for several years now - Feige recently told Collider that the success of 2018's Venom sparked conversations about how to "merge" the two characters.

So, again, while that No Way Home mid-credits scene might not be addressed in the very next movie, it's clear that the plan is to pay it off in the near-ish future.
