Ant-Man's suit seems to have been mostly set straight away in the design process - at least the colour scheme and the general look (which is fairly close to the classic comic book design).

But his helmet went through a lot of different possible designs before the artists settled on the final version. Some of which were actually more striking than the chosen design.

The mad genius that is Josh Nizzi also came up with a load of concepts for ants with special capabilities - the best of which is this nitrogen tank ant, which would have been able to freeze enemies...
