Movie sequels are all over the place these days and while some we love (can M. Night make Unbreakable 2 already???), today we have reports of two movies that really don't need sequels and we can't decide if we want these to happen or not. Currently starring in The A-Team, Liam Neeson says a sequel to his surprise hit revenge thriller Taken could be in the works. Speaking to MTV News, Neeson revealed that he and writer and producer Luc Beeson have been discussing ideas for a follow up, and are due to meet up again at the end of the month although "it is hard to get a plot that's going to be believable." Not that believability mattered on the the low-budget original, but hey it got raving reviews and also ended up banking $226 million globally. So, what do I know? Back when Lindsay Lohan had a film career and didn't kiss women, Mean Girls was definitely a movie that had some legs. Written by and co-starring Tina Fey, it was a brilliant take on how female high school cliques function and the effect they can have on girls. A casting call indicates that Paramount has not only greenlit a sequel but shooting is going to start next month! The release states that Emmy-winning director Melanie Mayron will helm the project and it will focus on a new high school student, Jo, who agrees to make friends with a social outcast named Abby, at Abby's (wealthy) father's request in exchange for paying for all of Jo's costs for the college of her dreams. Jo and Abby then join forces to man up to the school's "mean girls," aka the Plastics. Inevitably, the story takes on a new turn when Abby discovers that her new friendship has been paid for. Though before you get too excited girls, the movie is being produced by Paramount Famous Productions of Van Wilder: Freshman Year and Wrong Turn At Tahoe fame - so you can guarantee this one is going to be a low-budget STV, chick-flick.
