News has broken from Marvel's official website that Hollywood giant Michael Douglas has been cast as Hank Pym AKA Ant-Man in next year's Marvel Cinematic Universe instalment. Until recently, it had been thought that Anchorman's Paul Rudd would be portraying Pym, but it has now been revealed that Rudd will be portraying Scott Lang - the second Ant-Man - while Douglas will portray the more well known (and, in this case, clearly more senior) version of the superhero. This will be seen as a huge coup for Marvel and Disney and reveals an unexpected twist that will shock Marvel fans worldwide. Will this mean that the movie is going to be set in the future and that a younger version of Hank Pym will join up with the Avengers in future movies? Or will it mean that the version of Ant-Man to join the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to be Scott Lang? Regardless of that, Douglas' casting adds some real A-list clout to the movie. However, it will undoubtedly garner mixed opinions. Rudd was seen as a controversial casting and, for some people, this will allay the fears that emerged upon his casting. For others, it will disappoint, as many were expecting to see Henry Pym in his physical prime. Douglas has previously starred in such films as Wall Street, Falling Down, Basic Instinct, Fatal Attraction and Romancing the Stone, and can currently be seen in Last Vegas alongside other veteran Hollywood greats Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro and Kevin Kline.
