Mile 22 Review: 3 Ups & 6 Downs
1. Lauren Cohan's Terrible Divorce Subplot
Lauren Cohan is one of the more appealing things about this movie, though ultimately she's saddled with a frustrating and wildly unnecessary subplot involving her divorce and the custody of her young daughter.
A shocking number of scenes are devoted to Cohan's Alice using a divorce app in order to communicate in a civil fashion with her husband - who, distractingly, is played by Peter Berg himself - and one has to wonder why anyone thought an R-rated action flick needed melodramatic slop like this in it.
Cohan really tries, but these scenes feel like total dead weight in a movie that's already on the snappy side, running just 94 minutes in length.
So, Mile 22's a bit of a dud, but it does at least have a few bright spots. Here are the scarce things it nails...
