Morbius Trailer Review: 5 Ups & 1 Down

The first Morbius trailer inspires terror... and even a little cautious optimism.

Marvel Comics has certainly livened up the Hollywood landscape over the past decade.

On one hand, you have Marvel Studios' juggernaut of a cinematic universe, churning out box office heavyweight after box office heavyweight until its biggest spectacle finally achieved the coveted title of 'highest-grossing film ever' last year. And then you have Sony's expanding universe, which makes use of the the Marvel characters that they own the rights to - while sharing Tom Holland's Spider-Man with its counterpart.

Sony's 'Venomverse' officially kicked off in 2018 with the notorious Venom, and now it will be followed up by yet another standalone offering to spotlight a Spider-Man character. And that film is none other than Morbius.

Starring Jared Leto in the titular role, the film follows the story of afflicted doctor Michael Morbius, who is willing to go to extreme lengths in order to overcome his life-threatening disease - even if that disease is, well, death itself.

After much anticipation (and concerns), Sony has finally unveiled the first trailer for Morbius and let's just say it caught a lot of viewers off-guard. Yes, from a unique terror-heavy plot to a surprising cameo, it seems we can be cautiously optimistic about the vampire flick. With that in mind, let's get right into it...
