20 Most Underrated Horror Movies EVER

2. Jennifer’s Body

2009's horror-comedy Jennifer's Body was a critical and commercial flop upon original release, many surmising that it was cynically marketed as a chintzy slice of schlock in which a scantily clad, possessed Megan Fox seductively preyed upon her male classmates.

Yet Jennifer's Body had a whole lot more to offer than that, and around the time of 2017's #MeToo movement think-pieces began to surface online praising the film's feminist commentary on consent and bodily autonomy - ideas that were evidently lost on many during its original release.

Writer Diablo Cody and director Karyn Kusama clearly had far more on their minds than tantalising teenage boys - despite how the film was marketed - and watched today, it's blindingly clear that Jennifer's Body was about a decade early to a conversation many weren't ready to have yet.

Though the film's reputation has increased significantly in recent years, it's still far from the earning the accolades it so thoroughly deserves.
