BOX OFFICE: Movie goers find some NATIONAL TREASURE under their Christmas tree

On behalf of everyone here at Obsessed With Film, I would just like to say that I hope everyone had a fantastic time over the Christmas period and Santa Claus brought you everything you had hoped for... he certainly did for the people behind Disneys latest offering.

BoxOfficeMojo put the latest Nicolas Cage family flick on over $11.7 million for the day, with I AM LEGEND following closely taking in $8.5 million (estimates only, I reckon both figures will rise a couple million come the final results). Assuming the figures are fairly accurate, it ranks the movie as one of the top 5 Christmas Day takings of all time (MEET THE FOCKERS is way out in front with $19.5 million). Not only that, but now both NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS and I AM LEGEND are in the top 15 all time biggest grossing movies for the opening 5 day period around the holiday period.
