20 Movie Sequels That Took WAY Too Long
7. Incredibles 2
At the time of its 2004 release, The Incredibles was the second-highest-grossing Pixar film behind only Finding Nemo, and while Disney has never been one to rush out animated sequels, a 14-year wait was torturously long even for the Mouse House's standards.
Though Incredibles 2 was a monstrous box office hit to the tune of $1.243 billion, there was an overwhelming consensus from fans that it was a good-but-not-great sequel that suffered from taking so long to release.
For one, the first film ended on a cliffhanger which this sequel immediately picked up from, which creates something of an awkward vibe from the jump considering the massive leap in animation quality.
That is to say, watching both Incredibles movies back-to-back is a slightly odd experience, because while they should feel totally of-a-piece with one another, the technological jump actually proves quite jarring.
Plus, we'd become so oversaturated with superhero fare by 2018 that Incredibles 2 lacked some of the spark it surely would've had by releasing in the late-aughts or early 2010s.
Not one to learn their lesson, though, Disney currently has Incredibles 3 slated to release in 2018, an entire decade on from its predecessor.
