Netflix Strikes Big Deal For Keanu Reeves Drama To The Bone
The streaming service reportedly putting up $8 million deal for the Sundance hit.
According to Deadline, Netflix are heading towards paying out $8 million for To The Bone after its recent screenings at Sundance film festival. The film is a directorial debut for Marti Noxon, and stars Lily Collins alongside Keanu Reeves.
The story follows Collins' character as she struggles with an eating disorder, with Reeves stepping in as her therapist seemingly willing to go to any measures, including unconventional and experimental treatment, to save her.
The first time director has previously spent a decade of her life fighting an eating disorder herself. You might know her from her previous work alongside Joss Whedon with Buffy The Vampire Slayer, or one of her many other writing and producing credits on the likes of Mad Men, Glee and Grey's Anatomy.
The deal comes amidst an extremely busy Sundance festival with a seemingly endless amount of deals being offered up this year. Netflix themselves have already been busy having acquired worldwide rights to The Incredible Jessica James, a comedy by Jim Strouse; as well as obtaining worldwide rights for the documentary Nobody Speak: Hulk Hogan, Gawker And The Trials Of A Free Pass and Icarus, a documentary following the Russian doping scandal.
