20 Upcoming 2026 Movies You Don't Know About (But Should)

12. Tony

Considering the state of modern biopics, it's easy to scoff at the idea of late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain getting his own movie - at least until you see who's working on it.

Tony is being directed by Matt Johnson, a filmmaker who came to prominence in recent years through his brilliant films BlackBerry and Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie.

BlackBerry is one of the more dynamic and downright entertaining biographical dramas of recent years, making it clear that Johnson can wring huge interest out of even a subject as potentially mundane as the rise and fall of a phone company.

He's an inspired choice to mount a Bourdain biopic, then, while The Holdovers' brilliant Dominic Sessa will play a young version of the chef and be joined by Leo Woodall, Emilia Jones, and Antonio Banderas.

Above all else, there's virtually zero chance that Tony is just another stodgy, instantly forgettable biopic with Johnson at the helm. The man probably couldn't make a boring, pedestrian film if he tried.
