New Batman Movie: 10 Epic Batman Story Arcs to Adapt for Batman 4

4. Batman: Venom

When Batman fails to save the life of a young orphan girl, he€™s inconsolable with guilt and becomes convinced he hasn€™t got what it takes to be Gotham€™s protector. Cracking to the pressure, Batman seeks out a way to enhance his strength and quickly finds himself addicted to Venom; the steroid-like drug used by Bane in the comic book canon. How It Could Work: For me, Venom is one of the greatest Batman story-arcs on the market. It looks at what makes the Dark Knight the greatest superhero out there: his human limitations and the depth of his obsession with €˜the mission€™. This€™d be another one that must depart completely from the current trilogy continuity to work, but it wouldn€™t necessarily have to dispense entirely with the popular grittiness that Nolan put forth in his take. Potential Issues: Well, a glaring issue is that the steroid that Batman becomes addicted to in Venom doesn€™t exist in the current Batman movie continuity. In fact, audiences everywhere have just been told that Bane€™s mask administers anaesthetic, when it should have in fact administered the steroid, according to comic book lore. That said, it can€™t be massively difficult to fabricate the existence of some new super-steroid in Gotham; it doesn€™t even strictly have to be connected with Bane. And after TDKR, I think audiences are ready to see how dangerous Batman can really be when he loses control.
