New Batman Movie: 10 Ways to Reboot Nolan’s Batman Continuity

By Stuart W. Bedford /

Can you ever really get enough Batman? I mean, he€™s without a doubt one of the most successful comic book characters of all time, and he€™s been a staple hallmark of cinematic adaptation since Tim Burton first reimagined him in 1989. And what a journey it€™s been, although it€™s not without its share of ups and downs (lookin€™ at you here Schumacher). If you€™ve been manning a space station for the last ten years, you might not have heard of Nolan€™s super-budgeted, super-performing Batman trilogy; for everyone else, you likely spent a good few years hearing about nothing but. It wasn€™t without its naysayers but in general, Nolan€™s Dark Knight franchise exceeded all expectations in terms of critical and audience reception, and most importantly (to suit wearing Hollywood types) at the box office. Although the news came recently that Warner Bros. studios are looking to feature the Dark Knight in their upcoming Justice League movie before he gets a new reboot of his own, with figures like those that Batman pulls in, the next solo Caped Crusader movie is probably only a matter of a few short years away. Will they decide to reboot completely, or will they look to, in some way, re-establish Nolan€™s continuity, with it doing so phenomenally well for them in the past? It€™s impossible to say at this stage, but the latter could be done without too much difficulty. Here are ten ways we think Nolan€™s continuity could rise again for the next Batman, and beyond.
