7. Cold Storage

Despite being one of the most purely fun and curiously star-studded horror films of the year so far, it's baffling how little love Cold Storage got when it hit cinemas back in February.

This sci-fi horror-comedy from Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp - adapted from his own bestselling 2019 novel - follows two night guards (Georgina Campbell and Joe Keery) at a storage facility who discover that a dangerous parasitic fungus has leaked and threatens humanity's very future.

While hardly the most original film in the world, Cold Storage gets a lot of mileage out of its charming characters, dark humour, and gnarly body horror, aided by a weirdly decorated supporting cast including not only Liam Neeson but also Lesley Manville and the legendary Vanessa Redgrave (!).

Though the film has performed better on streaming than theatrically - an extremely low bar, admittedly - it still feels far away from amassing the cult fandom it so clearly deserves.
