20 Awesome Recent Horror Movies You Definitely Missed

16. Dust Bunny

You'd think that a visually stunning fantasy-action-horror film starring Mads Mikkelsen, that's also the directorial debut of Hannibal TV series creator Bryan Fuller, wouldn't struggle to get eyes on it.

And yet, Dust Bunny grossed just $1.4 million on its limited theatrical release before being quietly dropkicked to streaming, enough that even if you did stumble across it, you might assume it was being buried for good reason.

But hardly. Dust Bunny is a rare sort of movie being produced at this budget level these days - a deliriously weird romp in which Mikkelsen's hitman attempts to help a young girl (Sophie Sloan) kill the monster living under her bed, which she believes ate her family.

The result is a hilariously off-kilter thrill-ride that's by turns sweet and sour, while serving up gorgeous visuals courtesy of its immaculate production design and cinematography.

Mikkelsen rocks it as usual, but he's matched at every turn by his young co-star Sloan, not to ignore some fun supporting turns from Sigourney Weaver and David Dastmalchian.
