20 Recent Horror Movies That NEED Sequels

6. Colony

The new action-horror film from Train to Busan filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho was a welcome return to form after a few wobbles over the past decade - namely his woefully disappointing Train to Busan successor Peninsula.

Colony offers up a fiercely original take on zombies, who continually and unpredictably evolve over the course of the film, leading to a wildly ambiguous ending which suggests the zombie plague is very far from over.

Yeon Sang-ho has already discussed potential avenues for a sequel, revealing that novel and video game continuations are already in the works, but given that the film has grossed $54 million against a $12 million budget worldwide, the numbers seemingly also make sense for a big-screen follow-up.

There's clearly narrative space for Colony 2 to justify itself, and with this being the filmmaker's most commercially successful film since Train to Busan a decade ago, it'd certainly make sense for him to explore this IP further.
